That Summer Feeling
I’m making all the possible combinations with my summer clothes in my head, I feel a constant urge to go outside, I listen to warm, sunny music and I have this enthusiastic feeling all the time. I can’t help it.. I have a summer feeling. Now that winter is slowly fading and the days are more sunny and you don’t freeze the second you step outside I am noticing that everyone around me, including myself, is longing, yearning for spring. But too bad for us, spring is more than a month away. The days are getting longer and sunnier and warmer, but it is not yet time to pull out your summer dress. I’m going to give you some tips to get through this last month of winter and be ready for spring when it comes.
Of course you should go to the gym or start running or practice any other sport, if you want to be ready for that bikini you have to get started. But let’s be honest here, who actually goes? I always have these great plans and I stick to them for maybe a week (most of the time it’s less) and then chocolate is too tempting to resist. If you can keep it up, you have my respect. But for all the people who can’t, let’s just look at other possibilities. So, you have to cook dinner for yourself tonight. You could go easy and run to the supermarket to get a pizza. But you could also start making salad recipes and trying them. Salads are great! You can just put in them what you want and what you like and you can make them as heavy or light as you want. If you made a salad you really like then wright it down! This way when spring and summer actually starts, you have your own recipe book of great salads you can eat all summer. And at the same time, you are eating healthy.
In the same category you can also start trading those snacks for some exotic fruit. I have a summer feeling every time I eat mango. I don’t know if this is something that only works for me, but you can always give it a try.
But you can’t fill your last month with only watching your food. That is not a way to get in the summer vibe. So start planning your summer holiday! I guarantee you, when you look at all those sunny pictures it will feel like summer. Furthermore for me the summer is a symbol for opportunities and positivity. So start thinking positive thoughts! Start a little project where you can only use warm colours and go outside every time the sun shines. The sun is really good for positivity too.
The last tip I want to give you to keep that summer vibe going is to start a big clean-up. Really clean your room. Throw everything out that has no necessary place in your life or room. Ask yourself with every object “do I really ever use this? Do I need this?” if you doubt, throw it out. Open the windows and let some fresh air in. Change the places of the furniture in your room. If you really want to make a big project out of it, change the colours on your wall. Put some flowers in your room and outside of your window and out of nowhere, you will have spring inside of your room and inside of you.
If you do all of this I can’t think of a reason why this last month should be over in a wink. And the moment spring is really here, you can go out in that summer outfit you have been thinking of and just enjoy the warmth of the sun and the summer feeling that is almost touchable in the air.
